PhD in Social Communication (University Pompeu Fabra), postgraduate in Design (Domus Academy), graduated in Anthropology (University of Barcelona), in Design (ESDAP) and BA. Hon’s in Design (WSA. University of Southampton).
He has developed his professional career in the field of people-centered innovation in design, consulting, research and teaching. He has extensive experience in national and international projects related to research into user, client and patient experience, applying anthropology, participatory design and co-creation. He has carried out projects for organizations such as Intel, HP, Vodafone, Novartis, Sanofi, Merck, Unilever, Oxfam, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Clinton Health Access Initiative, WHO and USAID among others. He has been director of Elisava University School of Design and Engineering of Barcelona and Director of innovation and design of Scope Impact of Finland. In the academic field, he has been visiting professor at ESADE, IESE, IE, Elisava, IED, Domus Academy, Politecnico di Milano, University Pompeu Fabra, University of Barcelona, University Ramon Llull, University Jorge Tadeo and University Federal do Rio Grande do Sul.
Currently, as a head of Patient Experience, Joan leads the development of new programs and initiatives aimed at improving the overall experience of patients: from creating new care delivery models patient-centric, to implementing new technology tools and ways to communicate with patients, or patient-focused programs through effective communication, empathy, and responsiveness to patient needs.
