Professor Raquel Figueiredo Alessandri Teixeira is the State Secretary of Education in Rio Grande do Sul since April of 2021. She was born in Goiânia, Brazil, and has an extensive career in education. She has a PhD in Linguistics from the University of California at Berkeley (USA), a Master's degree in Linguistics from the University of Brasília. She specialized in Ethnolinguistics at the Federal University of Goiás and was granted a postdoctoral degree in Language and Culture at the École des Hautes Études, in Paris. She is a full professor (retired) at Federal University of Goiás. She was Associate Professor at University of Brasília. Other accomplishments include being a Counselor for the Consulting Council of EduLa21- Ayrton Senna Institute; Founder-member of Movimento Todos pela Educação (All for Education Movement, free translation) and Member of the Academia Feminina de Letras e Artes de Goiás (Goiás Feminine Academy of Arts and Letters, free translation). In the last two decades, she was also State Secretary of Education, Culture and Sports of the state Goiás ; State Secretary of Science and Technology of Goiás, State Secretary of Education of Goiás and elected twice as a representative at the National Congress. She has published several articles and books. Raquel Teixeira was a member of Editorial Boards, supervised doctoral theses and master's dissertations and received several awards, including the Order Palmes Acadèmiques given by the French Ministry of Education.
