Diza Gonzaga graduated in Architecture, a profession she practiced until the creation of the Fundação Thiago de Moraes Gonzaga in May 1996, after losing her son Thiago for a traffic accident.
During her trajectory as the foundation’s volunteer president, she became a specialist in life preservation, publishing several articles on legislation, education, and the preservation of life in traffic.
She has received numerous awards and honors, including the Comenda da CRBM, Tiradentes Medal, Prêmio Berta Lutz from the Federal Senate, Mérito Farroupilha Medal, and the international Prince Michael International Road Safety Award, among others.
As a speaker and conference participant, Diza Gonzaga has taken part in national and international congresses and events, sharing her experience and knowledge. She represented Brazil at the First Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety (2009), held in Moscow, which resulted in the Moscow Declaration on Road Safety and helped drive the creation of the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety (2011–2020).
In 2019, she was invited by Eduardo Leite, governor of the state, to join the board of Departamento Estadual de Trânsito do Rio Grande do Sul (DetranRS) as Institutional Director. Since then, during her tenure, she has implemented Escola Pública de Trânsito (Public Traffic School) and has led the teams responsible for Balada Segura, Divisão de Infrações (Violations Division) and Divisão de Suspensão e Cassação (Suspension and Revocation Division) , focusing on strengthening educational actions and programs aimed at protecting life and preventing traffic crashes.
