Markus is a German executive and entrepreneur with over thirty years of
international industry and market experience. Markus has lived and worked
extensively in Europe, the USA, Brazil and Asia, and is now focused on the
Chilean & Latin American market.
He is the Founder of The Ganesha Lab, a Global Biotech Scale-UP providing
internationalization, Scale-up and funding services to Biotechnology startups
from Latin America. Markus, together with his extraordinary team, board of
internationally recognized experts and relevant industry partnerships, has
developed methodologies, processes and networks to provide world class
services to its clients and results to investors.
During his 25 year long career in the Life Science Technology industry with
leading manufacturers like Thermo Fisher Scientific and Fisons Instruments,
Markus held various leadership positions. He gained significant experience in
strategic transitions through market differentiated product innovations
resulting in significant value generation, growth and market leadership.
After leaving Thermo Fisher Scientific at the end of 2014, Markus dedicated
his time to expand his experience into the entrepreneurship and early-stage
investment industry. As Founding Partner of MGMS Consultancy, he
supported the development of international scale-up programs for science
and technology-based early-stage start-ups.
Markus is a member of Chile Global Angels, the most active Angel investment
network in Chile, and served on its board from 2016 to 2020.
Based on the results and feedback received from these initiatives, Markus
decided to found The Ganesha Lab in 2017. Since then he has been leading the
selection of and investment into 30+ pre-seed and seed stage biotech
companies originating from 6 countries in LatAm, 7 of which he launched
from LatAm to the US.
Given the traction of the portfolio companies and the brand recognition of
The Ganesha Lab, Markus decided to scale by launching The Ganesha Lab
Fund I, a venture capital fund that together with The Ganesha Lab, can expand
significantly the capacities and expected returns to current and new
investors.
