Hugo Goulart de Oliveira, MD, ScD, is a Full Professor at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) and Head of the Respiratory Endoscopy Unit at the Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre (HCPA), where he also coordinates the Innovation Center. A pioneer in Brazil in the use of endobronchial valves for the treatment of emphysema, he currently leads the development of a novel therapeutic approach for severe emphysema: an implantable artificial bronchus.
