About me
«Mate Pencz, co-founder of Loft and Canary and Loft’s CEO, is a Hungarian entrepreneur who graduated in Economics from Harvard University. At the beginning of the decade Mate, together with Florian Hagenbuch, began to study the possibilities in emerging markets. They looked at the Brazilian printing market and noticed the opportunity to gain scale with technology. In 2012, they moved to Brazil and founded Printi, the duo’s first startup, with the help of professional networks and angel and risk investors. Printi developed in a partnership with the purpose of using the facilities and machines to lead the local industrial printing. Within a few months, Printi launched a website, hired a team and sold its first product. The startup was sold in 2016 for more than $ 100 million to the American multinational Vistaprint. Today the company employs more than 500 employees. In 2016, Mate and Florian founded Canary, a VC fund specialized in the first round of new Brazilian companies, whether they are seed or series A. Canary has investments in several Brazilian startups such as Buzzer, Docket, EmCasa, Facily, Gupy, IDWall , Mimic, Spin Pay and Trybe. In 2018 they founded Loft, a startup that combines technology, bricks and capital to facilitate business in the Brazilian real estate market. Loft works in partnership with real estate agents and uses new technologies to facilitate buying and selling, financing and renting without a guarantor.»
