Wayra is the corporate venture capital arm of Telefónica, which drives innovation by investing in startups specialising in Artificial Intelligence, Connectivity and Cybersecurity to transform the business. It connects tech startups with corporate business units to accelerate the adoption of innovation and generate real impact. In doing so, it helps high-potential startups scale their solutions and enables corporations to integrate technology in an agile way within an ever-evolving digital environment. Wayra works with technology entrepreneurs and large organisations looking to transform their business models. It offers a venture client model, investment in key sectors and innovation programmes designed to bring solutions into real-world environments. It also collaborates with other organisations to amplify the impact of open innovation across Europe. To date, Wayra has invested more than €260 million in over 1,200 startups and currently has an active portfolio of more than 520 companies, of which more than 215 collaborate with Telefónica. It also drives open initiatives through its platforms Alaian and Open Future, reinforcing its commitment to collaborative innovation.
