Ainhoa Campo Nieto is Chief Investment Officer at Bilbao Vizcaya Investments, BBVA’s strategic investment platform, where she leads investments across venture capital, growth equity and decarbonization strategies. Her work focuses on backing top-tier venture and growth funds globally, supporting the entrepreneurial ecosystem through strategic long-term partnerships and equity investments in innovative technology companies.
Since joining BBVA in 2010, Ainhoa has held several leadership roles linked to strategic innovation, open innovation and ecosystem development. In 2018, she was appointed Global Head of Open Innovation, leading BBVA’s collaboration strategy with startups and the broader technology ecosystem.
Prior to BBVA, she developed her career across capital markets, M&A and innovation at companies including Indra and La Caixa.
Ainhoa holds a degree in Economics and Business Administration from the University of the Basque Country and completed the Digital Entrepreneurship Accelerator Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Throughout her career, she has focused on the intersection of financial services, technology and innovation.
