Carme Artigas, Senior Fellow at Harvard Kennedy School- Belfer Center, Senior Fellow st ADIALab. Co-Chair United Nations AI Advisory Body (2023-2024) , former Spain’s Secretary of State for Digitalization and AI, Spain (2020-2023) Honors: Women in Tech Global 2025, Great Cross of Military Merit, Lady of the Imperial Hispanic Order of Charles V, Great Medal of Civil Merit. Bio: Carme Artigas is a Spaniard executive and entrepreneur in the fields of Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity and Technology Innovation, with over 30 years of experience. She is a renown and recognized international leader in Artificial Intelligence regulation and governance. She is currently Senior Fellow for the Belfer Center in the Harvard Kennedy School doing research in the field of of AI and Geopolitics and also Senior Fellow at ADIALab (UAE) on AI Ethics. She has been the Co-Chair of the United Nations AI Advisory Body during all its activity period (2023-2025), reporting to Secretary General Antonio Guterres, and leading the the report “ Governing AI for Humanity” that was adopted by the UN General Assembly last September 2024. Since then she is continuing her rol as spokesperson and ambassador on these matters in relevant international fora. Artigas has witnessed the birth of four technology revolutions where she has had leading roles from both the private and private sector: internet, 3G, big data and artificial intelligence. She has hold several roles as CEO, Board Advisor and Chairman of the Board in several public and private companies. She co-founded and served as CEO of Synergic Partners, a pioneering European Big Data company acquired by Telefonica Group in November 2015, where she continued as CEO until the company's full integration into Telefonica Group. In January 2020 she was appointed the 1st Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence for the Government of Spain until December 2023, culminating her role leading the negotiations and the approval of the EU AI Act during the Spanish Presidency of the EU. Early days of her professional career include executive positions at Procter& Gamble, Director of Business Incubators at the City of Barcelona and CEO of the Ericsson Innova, the European Venture Capital firm of Ericsson Group. She is a MSc in Chemical Engineering by Instituto Químico de Sarriá, Master Thesis at Max Planck Institute, , Post-graduate in Industry Management by IQS, Executive Education on Venture Capital by Haas School of Economics-Berkeley University.
