Abrão M. Árabe Neto is the CEO of AmCham Brazil, the country's largest multi-sector business organization representing 3,500 companies, which contribute to approximately 33% of Brazil's GDP. Previously, he served as the Executive Vice President of AmCham from 2019 to 2022.
In the public service, Abrão held the position of Secretary of Foreign Trade of Brazil from 2016 to 2018. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in various trade and investment negotiations, fostering U.S.-Brazil relations, promoting regional integration, and advancing trade facilitation. His contributions were recognized when he was honored as a Commander of the Order of Rio Branco in 2017.
Before serving in the government, Abrão worked as a coordinator in the Foreign Trade and International Affairs Department of the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (FIESP), between 2009 and 2012. Additionally, he worked several years as an international trade lawyer.
Abrão holds a PhD in International Law from the University of São Paulo, and a Master’s degree in international economics law from the Catholic University of São Paulo. In 2012, he was a visiting Ph.D. researcher at Georgetown Law.
Currently, Abrão holds the position of senior fellow at the Atlantic Council, a think tank based in Washington, DC and at CEBRI. He also serves as a professor of international relations at ESPM, a prestigious academic institution in Brazil.
