Bio

Jaderson Costa da Costa, MD, MSc, PhD, is a physician-scientist and neurologist with extensive experience in clinical neurology, neurophysiology, and translational neuroscience. He earned his Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Biological Sciences (Physiology) from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Brazil, and completed a Research Fellowship in Neurology (Clinical Neurophysiology) at Harvard Medical School, USA. He is Full Professor of Neurology at the School of Medicine of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS), where he teaches and supervises undergraduate and graduate programs in Medicine, Health Sciences, Pediatrics and Child Health, and Biomedical Gerontology. Dr. Costa da Costa is the founder of the Brain Institute of Rio Grande do Sul (InsCer/PUCRS), a leading center dedicated to research, innovation, and advanced therapies in neuroscience. From 2016 to 2020, he served as Vice-Rector of PUCRS, playing a key role in strengthening institutional strategies in education, research, and technological innovation. He is currently Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Miami, collaborating in academic training programs for Latin American students and faculty. Recognized as a Level 1A Senior Researcher by the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), Dr. Costa da Costa has an outstanding academic career with significant contributions to epilepsy, neurodevelopmental disorders, and precision medicine. He presently serves as Director of InsCer and as Coordinator and Principal Investigator of the Gene Therapy Platform Project (PlatGenEdt), leading multidisciplinary initiatives focused on gene and advanced therapies for neurological and rare diseases. His work integrates clinical research, innovation in precision medicine, and the development of cutting-edge translational strategies aimed at improving diagnosis and treatment in neurology.
