João Brito Martins holds a degree in Economics from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa
and an MBA from IMD in Switzerland. He began his professional career in consulting before
joining the EDP Group in 2005. Over the past two decades, built extensive experience in
strategic marketing, pricing, business planning, M&A, and internal consulting, with
professional experiences in Portugal, Spain, and Brazil. In Brazil, he led the Innovation and
Sustainability area until 2014 and subsequently served as Director of Strategy and
Innovation from 2014 to 2016. Between 2017 and 2020, he was Distribution Director at EDP
Espírito Santo, and in April 2020, became Vice President of Distribution at EDP Brasil. Later
became an Executive Board Member of E-REDES, the EDP Group’s electricity distribution
company in Portugal. Since June 2025, serves as CEO of EDP South America, leading the
company’s operations in Brazil and Chile.
