Joel Avruch Goldenfum is a civil engineer and full professor at the Hydraulic Research Institute of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), working in the fields of hydrology, water resources, and disaster risk management. He has an extensive academic and institutional trajectory, with significant contributions to the study of extreme hydrological events, planning, and climate change adaptation, particularly in southern Brazil. He currently serves as Executive Secretary of the Scientific Committee on Climate Adaptation and Resilience of the Government of Rio Grande do Sul, where he fosters the integration of science and public policy to strengthen climate resilience. Throughout his career, he has led and participated in research projects, international collaborations, and strategic initiatives, establishing himself as a reference at the interface between scientific knowledge and decision-making.
