EteRNA Biotech

CEO

José Mateus is CEO and co-founder of EteRNA Biotech, a deep-tech R&D company focused on extending healthspan by developing therapies for age-related diseases. EteRNA combines AI and biotechnology to discover and prioritize molecules, primarily Amazonian, complemented by broader libraries. It pairs these molecules with transient, localized epigenetic therapies to advance licensable preclinical assets for partnering and out-licensing. He holds a BSc in Computer Science from UFAM (2024). Mateus learned to code at 15 and became a finalist in Brazil’s Informatics Olympiad (OBI) four months later. He worked at Samsung’s research institute (SIDIA) on facial recognition and contributed to AI/ML projects with GitHub, Samsung, and Jusbrasil. He also collaborates with NASA, UC San Diego, and UFAM to discover neuroprotective molecules, with experiments planned for the International Space Station (ISS).
