José Antonio González
Hera Materials
CFO & Cofounder
José Antonio is the CFO and co-founder of Hera Materials, where he’s helping end single-use plastic without asking anyone to pay more for it. Hera’s flagship material, Woodpack, is a flexible film made from recycled wood pulp and agricultural biomass. It recycles with paper, composts at home and costs the same as conventional plastic, and it’s built to scale from Santiago to a plant in Connecticut. José Antonio has been on Hera’s founding team since 2018. He turned more than five years of lab research into a commercial platform and now leads the company’s finance and growth strategy across Latin America and the United States. Before Hera, he was Head of Impact for Latin America & Brazil at the Wadhwani Foundation, analyzing data from more than 100,000 students to measure how entrepreneurship and employment programs created real jobs. Earlier still, he founded his own consumer brand. He has been a founder, operator and impact analyst, and his focus is turning science into businesses that are profitable and good for the planet.
